In March 2010, President Obama signed the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA) into law.
In 2010, California was the first state in the nation to enact legislation to implement the provisions of the federal Affordable Care Act by creating a health care marketplace called Covered California.
ACA goes into effect in January 2014, with enrollment beginning October 1, 2013 and ending March 31, 2014.

The National City Public Library is happy to announce the launching of its new eBook Collection.As a member of the Southern California Digital Library Consortium, National City Public Library offers its patrons access to a shared collection of eBooks and downloadable audiobooks. The consortium, comprised of 18 libraries, combines buying powers to acquire more content and multiple copies, thus reducing patron's waiting time for popular titles. Not finding the title that you want through the shared collection? Simply contact us. In addition to the shared collection, the library can build a custom collection based on patron's suggestions and recommendations. This custom collection is exclusive to National City Public Library and only accessible to our members.
Not familiar with eBooks, simply click on the image above to learn how to search and browse the collection and select titles you want to check out. Titles can be enjoyed through the following devices: your personal computer, laptop, e-reader, MP3 player, or smart devices such as (iphones, ipads, Android devices, tablets, etc.)

Library Board of Trustees
Every library needs support, assistance, guidance and input from the community in order to respond to the needs of the residents and to comply with the directives of the legal body that oversees its operation. National City Public Library has a Library Board of Trustees responsible for guiding major operations, long term directions and decision-making.
The Library Board Of Trustees is regulated by ET SEQ., Ordinance 1062 and Resolution 8210. Five members are appointed by the Mayor, with the consent of the City Council for a three year term ending June 30th.
Starting January 2013, the Library Board of Trustees will meet the second Monday of the month at 4:30pm in the Library Meeting Room at 1401 National City Blvd. Current Board Members are:

Friends of the Library
The Friends of the National City Public Library are people who care about books, learning, and ideas. Friends see the library as a vital part of National City. They are advocates, volunteers, and fundraisers for the Library. Through fundraising, they seek to enhance the library's resources, increase community access to information and knowledge, and provide a cultural gathering place for our diverse population.
The Friends operate the Library Bookstore. Opening hours vary, from Monday to Saturday. Please call the Friends' Bookstore at (619) 470-5930 for more information.The Friends of the National City Library is a volunteer, non-profit, tax exempt organization.

Donating Materials to the Library
While we encourage donations to our circulating, reference, and local history collections, it is not always possible to keep all gifts due to duplication, storage limitations, or other reasons. When donations cannot be retained, they are frequently sold at a nominal price by the Friends of the Library and the proceeds are used to buy new books for the library. We may also donate your gifts to other libraries or institutions.
The Library has over 100 public access computers with Internet access. The Anne Campbell Computer Center has 64 computers with software for word processing, spreadsheets, and desktop publishing, email access and webcams. The Computer Center offers use of color scanners and color printing. For details on obtaining a library card or a computer access card click here.
Basic computer classes are held on Wednesday at 6pm. By using our wireless network, users hereby agree to abide by the Library's Internet Use Policy and Rules of Conduct.
Wireless AccessThe City provides free Internet access points or "hot spots" for users with portable computers or devices capable of receiving wireless signals. However, high demand, reliability of technology and other factors may affect access. For these reasons, the Library cannot guarantee the availability and reliability of the service.Wireless Network SecurityCommunication over a wireless network is not secure. The service is offered for your convenience and its use is at your own risk. The Library assumes no responsibility for the safety of your equipment or privacy of your data and communication. While using the wireless network, you are solely responsible for: -Taking appropriate caution with personal information (credit card numbers, passwords and any other sensitive information) being transmitted as it could be intercepted by another wireless user. - Protecting your device with current anti-virus and personal firewall software.Connecting to the Wireless NetworkThe Library does not guarantee that your device will work with our network. Library staff cannot provide technical assistance in configuring your portal device nor perform any troubleshooting over your device. Please consult your user's manual or contact other support services offered by your hardware or software provider.Printing using the Wireless NetworkPrinting access is not available via the wireless connection at this time. If you need to print, save your file to a flash drive or email to yourself and print from a public access computer in the Library.
